It is so much easier to get forecasts correct normally with a smartmeter in my experience. As an alternative prior to a smartmeter i got into the habit of entering at least weekly meter readings into the supplier website. This made a dramatic difference to the accuracy over time and was worth the effort for me anyway.
Electricity meter. You might need to wake up the display by pressing any button. Press 'B' until you see 'Total' or 'TOU...' displayed. If you're on a single-rate tariff, press 'A' until you see 'TOU Rate 1'. This is your reading. 'TOU Rate 1' - this is your reading for rate 1 (also called the low, or night, rate)

Re: SmartMeter will only connect to meter really close. Hi Camilach. The smartmeter itself is the thing screwed to the wall under the stairs or wherever it is. Your little monitor just gives a view of what the meter is doing. You can turn off the monitor or leave it on, it makes no difference to the way the smartmeter works.
